With a little creativity you can come up with many other dipping items. Please read the don’ts before choosing.
2) Don’ts:
Nothing frosted, delicate or crumbly. Why? The toppings and crumbs will fall into the chocolate and polute it. This not only hinders the flow of the chocolate but it looks less appealing.
Nothing too small (mini marshmallows, raisins, raspberries, etc)
Why? These items are too hard to dip and can fall into the fountain hindering the flow. Also, if they can’t be skewered and you need to use your fingers, it’s not sanitary.
What type of chocolate can I use?
Semi-Sweet, milk, dark, or white chocolate. Depending on cocoa content, vegetable oil needs to be added.
Do you provide dipping items?
We work closely with a vendor who is an expert at creating beautiful displays of quality dipping items. For ideas on the variety of dipping options see their web site at www.cakeexperience.com.
I have 500 guests - Can you accommodate me?
Yes. You need the large fountain. We can easily refill it.
I have 25 guests - Can you accommodate me?
Yes. My small fountain would be perfect for your party.
How much does it cost?
See the 'Fountain Rentals' section on this site for the latest pricing information.
Can I use my own chocolate?
Yes, but only after you let me taste it!
How much chocolate is needed?
We will supply enough chocolate to accomodate your party.
Do I have to melt the chocolate first?
Yes. The base of the fountain will keep the chocolate warm, but it won't melt it. I use an electric warmer, so melting chocolate is easy.
How long can I leave it running?
All day as long as there is a sufficient amount of chocolate in the fountain.
Can I use the fountain outside?
Yes, but the fountain must be properly sheltered. Ask about our new windguard. Wind can blow the chocolate off the fountain, and cold air can hinder the flow of the chocolate. Furthermore, the base of the fountain is electrical, so it
should not get wet. I would advise you to use the fountain indoors to make sure everyone enjoys the chocolate experience.
Should I contact you, or should I have my caterer contact you?
Either is fine.
What size is the fountain?
The large fountain is 34" tall and 18" in diameter with a total weight when assembled of 80 pounds. The medium fountain is 27" tall and 14" in diameter with a weight of approximately 45 pounds. The small fountian is 19" tall.
How long does it take to set up?
A few minutes.
How much staffing is needed?
Having a trained staff member on-hand to facilitate any issues will allow you to focus on entertaining your guests. Items dropped into the fountain can block the steady flow of chocolate.
Do you provide staffing?
Yes. We provide a trained, professional staff person to ensure that the fountain works correctly. The price of the staff is included in the rental price. Additional charges may apply for longer parties.
Can my caterer provide the staffing?
Yes. I am very happy to work with your caterer. If my staff is not present at the event, I require an additional security deposit of $200, which is refunded when the fountain is returned in working
order.
I'm in San Francisco. Can I rent your fountain?
Yes. I'm based in Santa Clara county, so we'll have to make delivery arrangements. Extra charges may apply.
